There’s a lot of good stuff online—and a lot of not-so-great stuff. Once a month, to help you dig through the depths of the internet and find what’s worth your time, we will send you a couple of things that have been helpful to us as dads. Here’s our June list:

The Most Meaningful –  Reminds Us What Type of Men God Calls Us to Be

As men, we need to aim higher than just being nice. In this article on Desiring God, Greg Morse writes about the type of men we need today, saying that,

“Nice” says nothing of spine, of edge, of valor, and thus it can say little of righteousness or purpose. Nice requires no courage, no conviction, and no willingness to make enemies with the wicked. Jesus warns against such palatability: “Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26).

The article helps us think about what it means to go beyond being nice. It teaches us how to be men like Jesus. “Meek and fierce. Tough and tender. Leaders and servants … Men like Jesus.”

The Funniest – Teaches Us It’s Never Too Early to Talk with Our Kids

If you are not on social media (yes, we applaud you) or if you somehow missed this viral video, you need to see Tennessean comedian DJ Pryor talking to his 19th-month-old son.

The Most Touching – Shows Us Real Men Cry

In the French Open this spring, famous player Nicolas Mahut played what might be his last tournament—and lost 7 to 6 in the third round against Leonardo Mayer. As Mahut sat on the bench, head in hands, his 7-year-old son ran towards him from across the court and gave him a huge hug. Check this out, and see how we are meant to share our emotions with our kids.
